Objective of the commission

The Institute of Geography has a Commission for Equal Opportunities and pursues the following targets:

  • Knowledge of the strategy for equal opportunities of the University and the Faculty and the corresponding objectives and measures
  • Implementation of the strategy for equal opportunities of the Faculty and the corresponding measures at the Institute
  • Development of specific additional objectives and measures at the Institute

The game “snakes and ladders” of the career was offered by the Commission at the Institute in the context of the International Women’s Day in 2015.

The Institute of Geography promotes the success of women and men in the scientific community as well as in academic teaching and studies with efficient measures for equal opportunities.

GIUB offers financial Support for the organisation of workshops on the broader topic of Equal Opportunities

Representatives of each Unit can apply for financial support for the organisation of a workshop on the broader topic of equal opportunities, e.g. during their colloquium. The support is up to CHF 1,500 and the workshops must be open to other GIUB members. The following “Application Form” must be filled out and the “Rules and Regulations” must be strictly followed.

 

Nursing-room/Parent-Child-room at the Institute of Geography

The Institute of Geography has at its disposal a nursing-room/parent-child-room on the 3rd floor in room number 306. This room can be used by staff members of the Institute as well as by students for nursing or the possibility to work next to your child. The room needs to be booked through the Institute`s internal reservation system.
