In my PhD project I am investigating extratropical cyclones over the North Atlantic and Europe during winter. These storms are able to cause severe damages and extensive economical losses. Especially serial cyclones have enormous destructive potential, as multiple storms affect the same area within a short period. I am going to investigate the drivers of these storms to enhance their predictability on subseasonal-to-seasonal (S2S) timescale.
