The goal of my research is to develop a flooding warming system for three major regions in Switzerland based on weather forecasts of the ECMWF. The variable we base the flooding forecast on is the integrated vapour transport which gives us important information on the large-scale flood precursors. The information will be provided in a climatical context as well as with threshold information. Only values above a certain threshold will be able to trigger a flooding event.
