The Sustainable Land Management research group is one of the constituent units of the department of integrative Geography. We study processes of deforestation, land use change, soil erosion, changes in wildlife habitat or water cycle in an integrative and often interdisciplinary manner. We are committed to identify potentials, e.g. the improvement of resource use systems through water and soil conservation or protected area management. Thereby we include land use systems, farming systems and process assessments as core elements of our research. The research of the unit Sustainable Land Management contributes to solve global challenges, for example in the context of the UN SDG's, the three Rio Conventions und national environmental policies.
