Launched in September 2000 NOAA-16 completed 70655 orbits and over thirteen years of service to the weather and forecasting communities. NOAA-16 was decommissioned on June 9, 2014 at 14:23 UTC due to major spacecraft anomaly.
The thesis is allocated within a capacity building project in collaboration with ESA and the Worldbank. The project starts immediately.
The European Association of Remote Sensing Laboratories (EARSeL) and the Remote Sensing Research Group hosted the 7th WORKSHOP OF EARSeL SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP Remote Sensing of Land Ice and Snow on February 3 - 6, 2014 in Bern.
Metop-B, launched on 17 September 2012, is performing well and has just replaced Metop-A as as prime operational satellite in polar orbit, after the six-month commissioning phase.
