The education offered at the Department of Geography includes courses at the Bachelor, Master, and Ph. D. levels. The Remote Sensing Research Group is involved as follows: The basics of remote sensing are provided within the geoprocessing unit at the Bachelor level. The goal of this geoprocessing lecture (duration: 2 semesters) is to impart a basic knowledge in photogrammetry, remote sensing, and geographical information systems (GIS).
At the Master level, the lecture 'Remote Sensing in Climatology' and the seminar 'Remote Sensing of polar regions' point out the possibilities and limitations of remote sensing and provide a deeper knowledge in specific topics. Visit the 'teaching' page of the Department of Geography for an overview of our lectures. If you are interested, please consult the actual list of available Bachelor- and Mastersthesis and do not hesitate to contact Stefan Wunderle. All of our Master theses are part of ongoing research projects.
The Ph.D. education includes extensive studies on applied remote sensing questions and the publication of results in peer-reviewed journals.
Information on our research projects and the real-time products (snow coverage, vegetation dynamics, lake surface temperature and aerosol optical depth) can be found under 'research' or on our real-time product site.
